To Infinity and Beyond - Disney Lorcana Introduction to Infinity
If you enjoy creative deck-building with near-endless possibilities, discovering powerful interactions, and pushing strategies to their limits, Infinity might be the format for you.

A Whole New World of Lorcana
Many decks come and go as the meta-game evolves and as sets are introduced to the game. However, from the very beginning of The First Chapter, there has been an archetype that has grown and developed with each new set. The iconic Amber Steel “Steel-Song” has been a part of nearly every tournament, and is a great example of a fun and accessible deck in Infinity.
The Steel-Song Archetype is a dual-faceted strategy of playing cheap units and controlling the board, and utilising powerful Song action cards to control the board and maintain a lead on lore. The deck is flexible, deals with aggressive decks well, and has the capacity to gain lore fast enough to outpace the more control-heavy decks.
The environment of Infinity means that the Steel-Song deck scales well into the field. You have access to Singers and Songs from across all of Disney Lorcana. Whether you’re new to Disney Lorcana and just starting, or have been playing since the beginning, and everything in between, you’re sure to have cards in your collection to build a great version of the deck. On top of that, when looking at specific lists, you can easily adapt to fit your own collection. And when optimising your deck, the specific pieces are mostly readily available cards that your friends and locals will have and are relatively affordable.

There really is a wide array of builds for this deck archetype. However, for this article, we’re going to take a look at one list in particular. This was a deck-list played by [TU] Jannova at the 7 Round Infinity Constructed event on the Saturday of Disney Lorcana Challenge Ghent. Of nearly 400 players, we saw this list make it into the top 16. Let’s break it down.

Creating Your Choir
Your early game should be as consistent as possible. Steel-Song decks play really well from an even standpoint and aim to control the game early and take charge. The deck sees three total 1-cost characters, each with their own powerful abilities. The most obvious is Cinderella – Ballroom Sensation. A 1-cost character with Singer 3, Cinderella enables you to play powerful songs like Let The Storm Rage On on turn 2. We also have Aurora – Holding Court with her ability, allowing us to play one of Steel Song’s most powerful characters, Ariel – Spectacular Singer, on turn 2 as well. Rounding out our 1-cost characters is The Queen – Regal Monarch. On her own, this doesn’t seem like a great play. However, the ability to play The Queen – Commanding Presence using shift on turn 2, and then immediately being able to sing any song in your deck is very powerful.
Musical Mayhem
The midgame is the most volatile, and where you’re looking to interact with your opponent the most. A well-timed Pete – Games Referee will stop your opponents in their tracks, forcing them to use their own characters to remove yours, if they can. Lawrence – Jealous Manservant and Mr Smee – Bumbling Mate will allow you to take favourable trades while you sing and quest with your army of Princes, Princesses, and Queens. Additionally, songs like Strength of a Raging Fire and And Then Along Came Zeus allow you to keep tempo, remove threats from the board, and continue questing to victory.
Closing Ceremony
The endgame of Steel Song really is to stabilise the board until you are in a position where you have characters that can sing, and gradually gain lore until you are one last big push away from victory. Now, while the list we’re looking at does not run any copies, some versions have run Robin Hood – Champion of Sherwood for more card draw and incidental lore gain. For the most part, Ariel – Sonic Warrior will provide you with some more ways to deal with opposing characters as you inevitably inch your way to victory. A well-timed A Whole New World also allows you to refill your hand, as playing many cards for “free” is likely to drain you of resources.
One of the later additions, if you’re building this deck from scratch, would be to include copies of Rapunzel – Gifted with Healing. This powerful character not only keeps your other characters healthy and quests for two lore, but also draws cards to make sure you have all the songs you could ever need.
One Last Verse
Steel Song decks remain as one of the most iconic archetypes in Disney Lorcana. The versatility of playing your actions without having to expend Ink leads you to having powerful turns while still developing your board. What’s important to note as well is that you will also be churning through your deck at a fast pace, meaning that your single copy inclusions of cards for specific match-ups won’t be hard to find.
With iconic Disney Lorcana songs, you’ll be able to tune your deck and make it work to fit your play style. If you want to include more heavy-hitting characters, that’s perfectly okay. If you feel you want to focus more on gaining lore quickly, that’s also a valid option. While we have selected what we thought was a great baseline, it’s by no means a set-in-stone build for the deck.
Infinity unlocks the true potential of this archetype as well as demonstrates that just because you missed out on a set or two, it doesn’t mean you have to struggle to build a deck. The cards we see in the decklist are almost all readily available just from your friends, and the deck is flexible enough that you could fit whatever pieces you are comfortable with to tune it to your specific meta-game.
We look forward to exploring more deck options and seeing what else players build as they explore the Infinity metagame. We cannot wait to see what you all bring to Disney Lorcana Challenge Dortmund.
