A New Age For Flesh and Blood - SAGE and Compendium of Rathe

Silver Age and the Shape of Competition
Silver Age is a brand new constructed format designed to be easily approachable, clear, and accessible without sacrificing any of the skill expression and game mechanics that we’ve come to appreciate in Flesh and Blood. Decks are built using only common, rare, and basic cards and are led by young heroes. This restriction removes many of the pressures that come with traditional constructed formats while preserving the core mechanics that define Flesh and Blood. As showcased in the release trailer, Silver Age is your $20 ticket to the $2,000,000 Flesh and Blood World Tour.
The format uses smaller deck sizes and faster match structures, encouraging decisive play and rewarding strong fundamentals. Without access to legendary equipment or high-rarity power spikes, games are decided by sequencing, match-up understanding, and clean execution. Every point of damage and every block matters, often more than it would in formats with wider card pools.
SAGE does not aim to replace existing formats. Instead, it offers a parallel competitive experience that lowers the barrier to entry while remaining fully legitimate at organized play levels.

Why Silver Age Works
SAGE succeeds because it respects players’ time, money, and skill. By narrowing the card pool, it reduces cost while increasing the importance of decision-making. Players are rewarded for understanding tempo, resource management, and combat math rather than relying on singular high-impact cards.
The format also creates space for growth. New players can enter competitive play without feeling overwhelmed, while experienced players can explore a metagame where fundamentals are king. Many matches feel closer and more interactive, with fewer games decided before the first attack step.
SAGE also strengthens local communities. Affordable decks make it easier for stores to host events and for players to participate consistently. Over time, that consistency builds healthier scenes and deeper engagement.
The Compendium of Rathe
Compendium of Rathe is a supplementary set built with constructed play in mind. Rather than focusing on a single narrative or limited environment, it pulls from across Flesh and Blood’s history to create a broad, flexible card pool. The set contains a large number of commons and rares, making it a natural fit for Silver Age.
What’s so special about the set is that it has something for every player. We know there will be Silver Age support, but we have also seen powerful and in demand reprints for Classic Constructed. There are supporting cards for every hero, and the Antiquity Packs offer some amazing cards from Flesh and Blood’s history in a beautiful “antique card frame” as if lifted from the history books of FaB itself.
Compendium of Rathe looks to be a great supporting set that looks to support the brand new Silver Age format. Alongside Compendium of Rathe we are also getting the first two chapters of the Silver Age deck collections. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 each come with 5 pre-constructed decks at around $20 or the equivalent in other currencies around the world. These beautiful budget-friendly decks are easy to play, and more importantly, tournament ready straight out of the box.
Compendium of Rathe reinforces the idea that competitive play does not need to be exclusive. Strong decks remain within reach, and innovation comes from understanding interactions rather than chasing rarity.
Setting the Stage for a Format That’s Here to Stay
The Compendium of Rathe debut at World Premier London set the stage for Flesh and Blood’s future. This event was not just a celebration of a new set, but a showcase of a format designed to bring more players into meaningful competition.
London represented the first opportunity to see Silver Age played at scale, with fresh decks, evolving strategies, and a metagame that had yet to settle. It was a moment where fundamentals mattered, preparation was rewarded, and the direction of the format began to take shape in real time.
For players who attended, the World Premiere was a chance to be part of that beginning. For everyone else, it was the signal that Silver Age had arrived as a true competitive pillar. Compendium of Rathe provided the tools, SAGE provided the structure, and London provided the stage.
