Flesh and Blood High Seas World Premiere

Avast ye landlubbers! Sit for a moment and listen to this tale. Legend Story Studios (LSS) recently anchored in Taipei for the World Premiere of High Seas, the upcoming set for Flesh and Blood. We ourselves are gearing up for our next big Flesh and Blood show, World Tour Copenhagen. However, with the release of High Seas just beyond the horizon, here is what went down at Flesh and Blood High Seas World Premiere: Taipei.

Arise! Classes New and Old

High Seas takes Flesh and Blood somewhere it’s never gone before, to the seas! Pirates have burst their way into the metagame as a talent similar to the likes of the Mystic heroes from Mistveil or the Light and Shadow heroes of Monarch. But that’s not all. Alongside Puffin, the new Pirate Mechanologist hero and Marlynn, the new Pirate Ranger, we have an entirely new class entering the game.

Flesh and Blood High Seas brings us the brand-new Pirate Necromancer “Hero”, Gravy Bones! People have been asking, hounding after a Necromancer to be added to Flesh and Blood, and now we finally have one. All weekend long we saw players make use of the new heroes and mechanics, starting from the World Premiere on Friday through the Calling and Battle Hardened on Saturday and Sunday. All the while, players participated in sealed events and experienced the brand new cards before anyone else.

Treasure Island

You can’t be pirates without being on the hunt for treasure. And there was treasure aplenty at the High Seas World Premiere: Taipei. In celebration for the Year of the Snake, we saw an exclusive promo set available for all players, featuring a Mahjong-style rendition of Snatch. After picking up your gift set at the entrance, you saw hundreds of tables with the exclusive Treasure Island playmat laid out for all the World Premiere players.

I was lucky enough to attend the event, and you could just feel the excitement in the air. We had some amazing words from James White, creator of Flesh and Blood, at the start, really going into the design philosophy and how excited everyone was for the set. And after the briefing of the Head Judge, we got the go-ahead to start opening our packs!

Immediately we began hearing shouts across the hall. Marvel rarity Allies, surprise hidden mechanics, a stowaway hero. As the players were opening their cards, the world was discovering the cards live, and announcements were being broadcasted across the hall. We have some wonderful images from the Flesh and Blood team that captured some of these amazing moments.

The Main Events

All through the weekend, players sat down to play the Sealed Deck format. This meant for the World Premiere, Calling, and Battle Hardened, players cracked open 8 booster packs of the unreleased and built the best 30-card deck they could. Day two of Calling Taipei and the top 8 of Battle Hardened Taipei saw players playing in the first-ever High Seas Booster Drafts.

We truly were in uncharted waters, as the majority of the cards from High Seas had not been spoiled prior to the event. Players were diving straight into the deep end, brewing their decks and studying combinations for the most optimal strategies possible.

A massive congratulations to the top 8 players of Calling and Battle Hardened Taipei. Additionally a huge shoutout to Calling Taipei winner Evan Tanguy and Battle Hardened winner Spencer Horton. This was such an amazing performance, and we saw just how quickly players can plan, deckbuild, and adapt on the fly.

The Treasure Was The Friends You Made Along The Way

We had an absolutely amazing time at World Premiere Taipei. We managed to experience an all-new set, meet some of the amazing artists that bring the game to life, hang out with the wonderful community, and even get our butts kicked by some of the best players in the world. Watch out, because we’re bringing all this excitement back to you at World Tour Copenhagen. Join us for our next big Flesh and Blood event August 22-24th and experience just how amazing this game can be. Can’t wait to see you there.
